Portrait Photography
If you aren't satisfied with your finished portrait.....it's the photographer, not you! Yes, really!
While this may not be a popular viewpoint to have in this profession, it's true. Everyone deserves a finished portrait that enhances their best attributes. This is my specialty and passion......making you look great!
Almost everyone just absolutely HATES getting their picture taken. Yes, even I hate it, and am the worst person you'd ever want to try & take a picture of. Why? It's uncomfortable! I've been told it's worse than going to a gynecologist's office for the first time...worse than a dentist...and the list goes on! And we're so used to not liking tiny bits of our faces, bodies....let's face it, none of us wants our flaws to be magnified in the split second it takes to get a shot of us on camera.
So....even if we need a picture for our business card, or for our fliers, head shots for an agency, or family shots because we haven't gotten them done (except by Aunt Martha) in tooo many years...we put it off....because we don't want to do it!!
But, unless Aunt Martha is a pro, you're never going to be satisfied with the candid shots you have when what you actually need is a truly professional shot. So, what's the answer?
Go to a professional that understands your needs. Someone who will give you the time you need to feel comfortable in front of the camera....and most importantly.....will give you finished shots you love.
I like to collaborate with my clients. Each shoot is different. Nothing can or should be "standard". What I have found to be true, though, is that everyone who walks through my door has at least a mini-vision of what they want their portrait to look like. Whether it be casual, candid, journalistic, or something of a mix, you have an idea of what you want. We take the journey together so that you have the portraits you want.

The biggest 'complaint' I've had is that there are too many good photos to choose from after the photo session is done.....and this from those who absolutely hate how they look in a picture! That is success to me.
Common questions
What is your specialty?
I specialize in portrait photography. I also do some small product photography (ie: can't fit a car in my studio, but I can do small products for your brochure or web pages).

I've done cd cover shots. I do pet photos, family photos, single shots, and portfolio and senior shoots. We can have a shoot indoors and out with natural light or studio light, and on location.
How experienced are you?
I've been a professional photographer since 1995. In 1996, I opened my first business in New Jersey. I started here in Ohio in 1999.

My formal OJT training started with glamour shots, and assisting other pro photographers. This experience gave me the ability to 'see' through the camera, pose people in their best way, & constantly strive to do better. I've expanded my repertoire since then to include other than boas...although I still do shoots with them occasionally!

How long is a session?
As short as 15 minutes, and some are as long as 4 hours. It really depends on what you need and want and whether we go on location or do a studio shoot. The average studio session is about 1 hour plus the time to pick photos.
Your session is done digitally. The great part about this is you see your photos right away. You don't have to worry about fussing with printed proofs...you have a shoot, pick your favs, and then order all on the same day. Your finished prints are ready in about one week (sometimes sooner).

What are your prices?
Another thing I shouldn't do is post pricing....I'm supposed to up-sell, remember ;-)
But here it is. These are my portrait prices for head shots, family shots, etc. Please call for a quote for commercial shoots, as they are priced by the time involved, not finished photos. Thank you!
